ur eye clinic has been in existence since 1941, with the exception of a three year period during World War II. It was founded by Dr. Joe Workman, who completed his ophthalmology training at Washington University in St. Louis. He was joined in 1956 by Dr. Charles Peebles who practiced full-time until retiring in 1993. The office was first located on Bull Street, then Brabham Avenue and has been at its present location at 2601 Laurel Street since 1985. Dr. Welbourne White practiced with the group from 1988 until his retirement in 2000. Dr. Deborah Fyffe joined the practice in 1989 followed by Dr. Cynthia Snell in 1996. All three doctors are certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.
Although knowledge has increased and technology has advanced, the need for treating patients in a personal and courteous manner has not changed. Our supporting staff of technicians, insurance experts, and scheduling personnel are a major asset to the business because they care about people. Some of our staff have been with the group for over thirty years and their dedication sets a tone of friendliness and concern.
The optical shop has been an integral part of delivering good service since the business began. It has recently been completely modernized and offers most of the latest trends in eyewear. Our opticians have over forty years of combined experience and work diligently to fill prescriptions accurately and quickly with attention to both fashion and function.
One of the most important elements of our practice is our dedicated and friendly staff. From your first contact on the telephone with a live person to your examination and visit to the optical shop, each patient is treated as an individual with unique needs and concerns. Some of our staff members have worked with the practice for over 20 yearrs so it feels more like family to us. We look forward to helping you with all your eye care needs.
